Affirmation Station Nation

So here’s the 411 on this.  I’m an actress, and let me tell you what – you gotta fake it until you make it! You gotta fake it until you make it no matter what you’re doing – acting, secretary-ing, CEO-ing, even doctor-ing. Everyone is a beginner when they start. So it helps to kind of trick yourself into pretending you’re a few steps ahead. This applies to jobs, money, love, socializing, even traveling! So before I do my mindfulness meditation, I like to say some of these affirmations to help trick myself into believing I’m ahead.  Also, this really helps me when I’m sad and despondent, because sometimes when I say an affirmation like: “I am lucky.”- I think, hmm… I am lucky. Even though, at the time I might be thinking everything sucks in my life. It triggers something in my brain that goes, “You are lucky! Remember that one time you picked up that casting director in your car, or that other time you found 20$ on the ground! What about that time you got your audition time wrong, but you were there and booked the part!” I’m like ooo yeah… I AM LUCKY! After that something magical happens, my despondent mood starts to slowly change into a lucky person mood! Combined with meditation, affirmations make me feel grrrreat!

Affirmation Ideas

So firstly, I highly recommend if you have a goal – make a specific affirmation towards that goal.  The more specific, the better it is.  Also, Affirmations are a language of the affirmative. It works best when you don’t use negatives such as I’m not this, or I will never.

Example for me: I am a successful highly paid actress, acting on a hit television show in Los Angeles.

For You: I am a successful _(goal)__, working in _(city)_.

Directions:

  1. Choose however many affirmations you like from the list below or make them up specific to your needs.
  2. Write them down on a nice piece of paper with your favorite pen or marker.
  3. Once they are written, look into a mirror and say each affirmation.
  4. Say your affirmations 2-5x a day for a month or 2, and you should start noticing some changes.
  5. Keep your affirmations in a sacred place where you can look at them when you are in discomfort.
  6. You can make your affirmations even more special by decorating them however you’d like. (I like sparkles and hello kitty. You might like HALO and WoW stickers.)
  7. As you progress, you may want to remove or add affirmations. ( Like for me, I’ve been feeling pretty comfortable instead of anxious. So I removed that one and added an affirmation about traveling.)
