Mars Retrograde in Scorpio

Be aware folks. We are in some heated times. People are checking, double checking, and triple checking things. People are feeling insecure and scared. That’s Mars retrograde for ya.

At least I had this !

Yoga Nidra (Meditation)

So as most of you know there are many meditations you can do! There is a basic mindfulness meditation that I posted about earlier. There are chakra meditation, and mantra meditations, and also guided meditations! Lately, I’ve been tired, sick, & stressed out. So I still do my mindfulness meditation, but often it ends up with me taking an unexpected nap. Lol! Obviously, I needed the sleep, but then sometimes my sleep cycle is messed up. So anyways I’ll finish the debriefing. So today in addition to doing a mindfulness meditation I decided to do a yoga nidra. Yoga nidra is basically a meditation that sometimes yogis incorporate into their yoga practice. When participating in yoga nidra, you lie still on your back while guided. You stay awake during this guided meditation. Afterwards, you end up feeling renewed, awake, and more present. It can be very powerful. Sometimes, when I’m in the right head space I will have visualizations or epiphanies that are very clear and meaningful to me. As I mentioned, this practice is often done in yoga classes. However, there are resources online as well! So if you (like me) need some rejuvenation today. Try this yoga nidra that my BEST BEST BESTY made. Click on the link above!! It is relaxing peaceful and who knows what you will discover on the other side…Namaste.

Icky Icky Sicky Sicky Cold Remedy Blend!

So I thought I took enough of a rest the other day, but apparently I didn’t. After I took my break, I went hardcore. These weekend I worked a ton and was blessed to be able to express my creativity as well. However, I frequently forget about limits when I’m having soo much fun and then… I get sick.  It’s usually just a cold, but colds are annoying. So this healing remedy is amazing. I learned about it from one of my favorite podcasts, “That’s So Retrograde,” my indian friend, and my super successful business friend just drinks it all day every day. Personally, I don’t enjoy the flavor that much so I wouldn’t want to drink it every day. On the podcast, they said that turmeric can be preventative.  If chocolate was preventative I would eat that every day – well I almost do. (Hey it’s good for your heart right?) I drink this combo morning and night when I’m not feeling well. Usually, after 3/4 days MAX of drinking this concoction hardcore along with rest I feel better!

  1. Turmeric
  2. Fresh Ginger
  3. Garlic
  4. Honey
  5. Cayenne Pepper
  6. Lemon
  7. 3-4 Cups of Water

**Turmeric will stain the crap out of everything so just be aware of the dishes and clothes you use/are wearing.**

  1. Pour 3-4 Cups of Water into a big pot.
  2. Cut up and squeeze the lemon in a pot.
  3. Cut up the ginger into cubes and then drop it into the pot.
  4. Cut up 2 cloves of garlic or 2 tablespoons and drop it into the pot.
  5. Pour 1 Tablespoon of Honey into the pot.
  6. Pour 2-3 Tablespoons of Turmeric into the pot.
  7. Pour 1/2 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper into the pot.
  8. Turn the heat up until it’s boiling.
  9. Stir frequently.
  10. Once it’s boiling turn it down to a simmer for 4/5 minutes.
  11. Then pour it into a big cup and sip until you’re feeling better.
  12.  If the cubes of lemon and ginger disgust you – feel free to use a coffee filter as you pour mixture into a cup.
  13. Drink it hot!

I’m drinking it right now and you can actually feel it working! Make sure to spit/blow out your gunk afterwards (sorry to be gross). Keeping your gunk inside only keeps you sick!

So here are the facts on each of those ingredients! Feel better ❤

Take a Break!

Whether it be 5 minutes, a day, a few days, or a year – take a break! Okay, you probably can’t take a year off of your life. However, if you feel like you aren’t accomplishing things like you usually do, you probably need some you time. I think it is even important to take a break from self help stuff. We are soo hard on ourselves to meditate, do affirmations, pray, write, this and that to heal. Sometimes, the most healing exercise we can do is to be gentle with ourselves and say hmm, “it’s okay that I didn’t do that today.” Do as much as you can, but no when it’s time to rest!

We are about today through a major period of astrological retrograde. Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, & Mars are all in retrograde. Starting April 28, 2016 Mercury will go into retrograde. Retrograde periods are always thought of as this horrible thing. However, it is actually a great time for re-st. You have probably accomplished soo much this year! Take time to thank yourself for everything you have done. Recover, revive, recycle, & resolve everything in your life! Everyone is different, but innately you know how much rest you need. Take it for yourself, so you can continue to give back to the world and fulfill your dharma or life’s purpose!

Check out this little picture of successful vs. unsuccessful. Are you being the best person you can be? If not, take a little time to love you and you might be surprised with how much more successful you become!

Thankful Thursday: Gratitude is the Attitude

So I’m sure most people reading this will have heard of Gratitude lists. However, I believe in going above and beyond in every area of my life (if I have the energy). Most gurus talk about gratitude lists as a way to create abundance and feel happy about your life. You might feel like, ugg I ain’t got nuffin though! Honey child, I am here to tell you if you are reading this – you got somefinn! Haha! Also when you are writing your gratitude lists, don’t just write I have a roof over my head, and food. Write things that you deeply feel grateful for. When I first found my apartment, I had just gotten out of a horrible relationships and was graciously sleeping on my friends couch. So when I found this place, from the bottom of my heart I was grateful. Also, some things are just very special and unique to you. I may have mentioned my cat. Sometimes, I feel stressed out and she calms me down soo much. SO I am truly grateful for her. Another thing, I used to spend hours online searching for new music. Then someone told me about spotify, and how they send you a personalized playlist every week! So I am truly grateful for Spotify. You may or may not have heard, but the acting business is tough!  So any acting parts I book, I usually cry of joy, and then I say a prayer thanking God above. Maybe, if you did the exercise yesterday you have new things to be grateful for (like shoes). It might have been weird at first, but you deserve to have everything! Being truly grateful for everything given to you on Wednesday is part of fully receiving. I think of gratitude as like a period at the end of a sentence. You are given all of these words but you want to punctuate it to make it complete!  😀  Finally, what would life be without the wonderful beings that occupy our lives. Yes, write a list of the things and people that are special to you deep down. Write everything you feel deeply, passionately, epically grateful for. Afterwards, I found it to be more nourishing, to go out of my way and tell those very special people how special they are to me. You don’t have to call people. I think it is actually more effective if you write them a note. It can be a text, card, email, or long letter. Life is fleeting, a person that means the world to you just might not know unless you tell them. Make their day by telling them why they mean so much to you. They might be feeling blue and your words might make their day! It is soo easy to isolate yourself (or myself), and say boo I’m soo alone and sad. While I’m going through that, I can just take a look back at my list and realize that maybe if I hang out with those people who make me feel alive again I will forget I ever felt alone. Everyone has certain people they come across in their life that sizzle their soul. Hold on to those people, and take care of them like a flower in the garden. Water that relationship, feed it, love it, tell it how much it means to you because you are lucky to have come across someone who is that amazing in your lifetime! Gratitude is an incredible attitude and it’s contagious. So let’s spread this happiness virus!

Directions: Attitude of Gratitude

  1. Get a pen and paper.
  2. Write a handwritten list of everything you are truly deeply grateful for (aim for 5-10).
  3. Notice the people you are truly grateful for today.
  4. Send them a note telling them how much they mean to you.
  5. Do this on a daily basis for the best results.

Say YES Wednesday

So now, maybe you have let a few things/people/dairy products go.  Today you have so much space in your life for new things/people/food groups? You can now welcome the abundance the universe has for you. To fully heal, you have to want and believe you can heal, change, have a different life. So for 24 hours, practice saying yes to anything and everything that comes your way. Say yes to anything and everything that won’t hurt you, of course. Don’t say yes to smoking crack in TJ with a drug dealer that says hi to you on the street. Lol! Just practice say yes to the divine plan of your life. Trust your intuition or God and see where he/she/it leads you. When we have all this junk in our lives, it is hard to accept anything new. Our lives are so filled up with crap we don’t need, we don’t have time or space for anything magical or new! As the seminar I attended mentioned, our crap is our comfort zone.  When we stay in our comfort zone, we don’t grow. So I challenge you today, to try something new. Take a “healthy” risk, -talk to someone new, take a class, film a youtube video, say yes to even the small things.  When I was practicing this exercise a few weeks ago, I was getting some carrots at the store. The grocer said, “here’s a free bag.” I didn’t take it, but afterwards I thought about it. I thought – I can’t receive if I am not open to receiving.  So that moment at the store was my light bulb moment. Following that event, I said YES! I said yes to going to a party with new people (which I don’t usually do). I said yes to bags, clothes, and things started pouring into my life like crazy. It was amazing! Sidenote, do not say yes to the things you have let go of! Only say yes to the new (slightly scary or  simple things). This practice opens you up to the abundance of the universe. People I’ve talked to have gotten new jobs, lovers, money, gifts, anything and everything. Just let go of any expectations you have. And say yes!

Directions to Say Yes Wednesday!

  1. Make sure you have cleared out all of the gunk that isn’t serving you.
  2. Once clear, breathe in a breath or two or three and realize this is your first gift of abundance. You get so many breaths, these are all gifts.
  3. While you are breathing, think I am open and accept all of the gifts presented to me today. I will say yes!
  4. For the next 24 hours, say yes!
  5.  Enjoy!

Feel free to tell me what happens on your yessing Wednesday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. You can really do this any day of the week! Sending you love and positivity!

An Objective Look At Your Life.

So as I mentioned yesterday, when we are in our lives it is hard to see something that may be so obvious to the people surrounding us (that love us). Sometimes something that we think is good or feels good in the moment, actually isn’t serving us in the long run. So a way to jump start clearing your life of toxicities is to look at your life objectively. I learned this simple technique at a seminar I did with my dad and sister in Utah, called Turning Leaf.  We learned all sorts of techniques there, but this specific task I have used over and over again. I call it the Working/Not Working List. It is as simple as it sounds. This list is also immensely helpful for people like myself, who get so invested in something they start to forget why they are there.

Working/Not Working List Directions

  1. Get a piece of lined paper & a pen.
  2. Write a line through the middle of the page.
  3. On Column 1, write: Working.
  4. On Column 2, write: Not Working.
  5. Start listing everything that is working in your life in column 1.
  6. Start listing everything that is not working in your life in column 2.

Things that are working for me right now might be: having a cat, doing funny stuff, going to the gym, being in nature, my awesome agent, not eating refined sugar, singing/acting, my friends dorothy/peter/jenny/aimee (who make me feel loved unconditionally), my friend brian (who believes/supports my creativity no matter what),  getting 8 hours of sleep, taking baths, and writing. Think of why this is working, what about it adds to your life. Anything that is really working your life, is it your job – that is really working? Is it your friend(s) – that is really working? Is it a specialized diet –  is that really working? Is it your lover/marriage -that is really working?

Things that aren’t working for me right now might be: negative people, worrying/anxiety, when I “accidentally” eat dairy, not prioritizing things that need to get done, being hard on myself for not getting everything done, being hard on myself for not making enough time for each person in my life, not listening to my intuition, leaving makeup on and then my eyes being itchy in the morning. Things that aren’t working can be a task (leaving makeup on). They can also be a person that makes you feel bad. They can also be a situation (a book club that doesn’t align with your interests).  Anything can fall into the not working list.

Both of these lists are just some things that I thought of off the top of my head.  Like someone told me once, either things are bringing you up and making you feel alive, or bringing you down and killing your vibe. So figure out what you need to see more of in your life, and what you need to throw out (dairy products for me -hehe).

Oo and you may do this over and over again in your life. So it’s fun to see old lists and look at what is the similarities they have!

Your-naling/Morning-Noon-Night Pages

So I’m going through the basics of self help. Yournaling or Journaling is imperative to your healing, or at least is/was to my healing. The thing is you can do all of the meditations, affirmations, listing, chanting, praying, twirling around the self-helping yourself world. However, often we do these things but we still aren’t in touch with ourselves. I started journaling when I was younger, but I kind of stopped for a few years. Back then, I never wrote consistently. It was more like oo this exciting thing happened to me, so I’m going to write about it. Recently, I picked up, The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron. I can’t sing the praises of this book enough. Not only did it help me discover more fully my inner artist, but it really helped me get in touch with the real me. One of the main practices of this book is the art of morning pages also known as journaling. Journaling is soo helpful. So I have briefly touched on the fact that I sometimes get overwhelmed with sorrow and despair. Sometimes, our emotions just happen and it’s like oo I feel sad. You accept it, release it (cry/scream/stomp feet), and move on. Other times, there is a reason behind these emotions. We may not realize it, because we are in our emotions. When we journal for awhile (3 months+), we might start to see some trends. So I started to read my morning pages/journal and saw that:

a. Certain people were bumming me out yet I would still hang out with them expecting a different result (which is madness).

b. Certain people made me feel alive/inspired/loved unconditionally.

c. Certain activities help me deal with strong emotions: painting/writing/acting/singing/dancing.

d. I manifested things I wanted, by wanting them and then releasing or forgetting about those objects.

e.  There have been signs guiding me all over the place from God (if you believe in God) or from the universe! Example: I met a girl who writes on this amazing TV show. She had a very similar life as me -changing majors a million times, loves woowoo stuff (sound baths, astrology, reiki), was struggling financially, part of some sketch teams, and she was encouraged to write a tv script. Now she is living her dharma. She experienced  all of those things so she could write her script, and be a tv writer. Also, I 5 different people who don’t know each other said – Brianna! Do a character reel! Finally, I did it (and loved it)!

f. And if I am feeling super sad/angry/despondent it might because the crimson tide is rolling in town.

g. Working out my body and mind on a consistently on a daily basis helps me consistently feel more emotionally stable.

Before I read my months of journalling, I really had no idea that certain people/things needed to be let go.  Just yesterday, I read this article on yahoo about how rich people avoid pessimists like the plague!

So you may not know what’s bringing you down or keeping you from being rich yet! However, if you start journaling or doing these morning/noon/night pages you may start to become the detective of your life and figure it out!

  1. Buy a notebook or journal.
  2. Write every day in it for 3 months.
  3. If you miss a day, don’t give up!
  4. After 3 months, read it and figure out YOU!
  5. Highlight in blue, the toxics that desperately need to be let go.
  6. Highlight in yellow, the miracle fertilizers that make you feel SPLENDID!
  7. Highlight in pink, the things/signs that have helped you along the way.

Happy Detectiving and Happy Monday! ❤ ❤ ❤

So you may have heard about something called, “chanting.” Anywho, this was introduced to me by a friend that I randomly met at party. Of course, the way the universe works, she had something very sad in common with me, she had lost a sibling via suicide. However, you would never be able to infer that anything bad had ever happened to this lady. She was quite fabulous. She’s been to almost every country in the world! Her house is pink with pink buddhas and just so fabulous! She has blue eyes, and is just the sweetest lil thing I had met in Los Angeles. She came over to my humble, and I mean humble studio in koreatown. We sat down, and she told me about her brother. Boy was I shocked! This lady has suffered through a suicide in her life?!? How’s that possible, I thought. She’s so rich, and fabulous, and cool?

Afterwards, she told me chanting really helped her through this time. So of course, I was interested in trying this out. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo is part of a kind of religion called, Nichiren Buddhism. I call it a kind of religion, because Nichiren buddhists pray to their highest self. Nichiren buddhists are often also christians, catholics, jews, or even muslims! This practice is more of an ideology that there is a buddha inside us all. So Nichiren Buddhists believe that you can transform your life by experiencing a human revolution.  One can do this by chanting and becoming your best self for you and the world through study and practice. You can chant with people at the buddhists temple, or you can chant on your own. Nichiren Buddhism is a philosophy of peace, understanding, and compassion towards yourself and the world.

The Practice/Directions

  1. Setting Up An Altar

Buddhists have an altar in which you can place various items that symbolize different elements of your life. You can place water, in which symbolizes purification. Fresh fruit or greenery is placed for your sweet life and the eternity of life. Some people also place a bell which is used during the practice. You might also want to place an incense tray and incense or maybe light a candle.

2. Recite Daimoku

You can do the full practice and recite daimoku which is listed below.

3. Nam Myoho-Renge-Kyo

After you are finished with the daimoku, you can do the gongyo also known as Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. What I like to do is set an intention to transform in my life or someone else’s life. Then I set the timer for 5-10 minutes and I chant. When you chant you should be sitting upright and strongly. You are chanting to transform your life and your buddhahood.

It is kind a magical practice. The chanting gives you this vibrational quality in your body. So if I’m really feeling blue, in my body especially, I like to do this practice. It is kind of a speaking or living meditation. I can’t fully explain it, but with the vibrational quality that happens you start to feel better. I love it, because anyone can do it regardless of your religion. If you are interested in learning more about Nichiren buddhism I highly recommend looking at or checking out a Buddhist center near you! Everyone is so friendly and nice! It is a great community, and people practice all around the world. This is really only the beginning, there is soo much to learn about Nichiren buddhism! Enjoy this transformational practice! ❤
